Rawlings Advocates For Lie Detectors In African Courts

Ghana’s former president Jerry John Rawlings has advocated for lie detectors to be a part of the African courts system. The once military ruler, said in order for truth to be told at all times in the court rooms, lie detectors were needed. He was talking to Nigeria’s tabloid, The Guardian in an interview where he addressed concerns on African leaders and citizens who loot the state and deposit them in foreign banks. He said: “Attaching lie detector tests to courthouses could go a long way in restoring the culture of truthfulness, justice and social stability. Time and money would be saved adjudicating on the issues. “If only lie detector machines could be attached to the lying mouths of some of these so-called professional journalists and commentators, our society would stay focused and the lift-off in the society will also become inevitable. President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has cautioned clubs to desist from the consistent threats of pulling out of the ongoing league due to lack of sponsorship insisting such acts will turn away prospective sponsors. The FA Executive Committee member argues that no prospective sponsor will love to sponsor a league in which clubs are pulling out. He advised that the clubs must desist from such acts to open doors for sponsors who have shown interest to finally agree to sign a contract with the FA. “The consistent claim of pulling out of the league is one of the major reasons why we’ve not been able to sign on new sponsors,” he told Kessben FM a radio station basesd Kumasi. “You think anybody would like to sponsor the league when participating clubs keep threating to pull-out?
