Court Throws Out Paul Afoko And Says He Has No Case

An Accra High Court has thrown out the case in which suspended chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Paul Afoko had challenged his suspension. According to the court, Mr Afoko had no case and that the processes that led to the suspension was fair, lawful and just. radioxyzonline court reporter, who was at the Human Rights Court division of the High Court where the case was heard reported that the court was presided over by Mr Justice Anthony Yeboah.According to our reporter, speaking to journalists after the court ruling, Nana Yaw Osei, spokesperson of Mr Afoko said they will appeal the ruling. Home / News / EC Opens Register For Transfer Of Votes For Aspiring Candidates The Electoral Commission has opened the voters register to enable presidential and parliamentary aspirants who wish to transfer their votes from one polling station to another to do so. The exercise which started Monday morning August 15 will end on Friday August 19, a statement issued and signed by Mr Eric Dzakpasu, Head of Communications at the EC has said. The five-day exercise is restricted to only aspiring candidates who will be applying as candidates for the upcoming December 7 elections. By law, parliamentary aspirants for instance should be registered voters within the constituency where they want to contest. The statement from the EC explained that the aspirants should visit the District Office of the EC within the constituency they wish to vote and do so. Ghana currently producing excess power - GRIDCo

The Chief Executive of the Ghana Grid Company has hinted of a temporary suspension of the load-shedding exercise in the country since July 29, 2016. This, William Amuna attributes to the country's production of an extra 110 megawatts of power. A shortfall in power supply resulted in unannounced power cuts in the country in June and July this year. Many experts urged the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to declare load-shedding but the government refused and insisted that the problem was for a short period and that it will be addressed in due course. The situation stabilized few weeks ago and the CEO of GRIDCo said the power tranmission company is now able to meet demand which is about 1800 megawatts. “Asogli is not working now and if it comes on-stream, it means we will have more in excess,” Mr Amuna indicated in an interview with Joy News’ Beatrice Adu. The Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President Jerry John Rawlings, has urged the party to dictate the terms for this year’s general election.According to him, it would be suicidal for the NDC to allow the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to determine the terms for the election. “We cannot afford to fight them on their terms. Let us not mimic their behaviour, otherwise we will run into serious problems,” he said. Friends Of Spio-Garbrah Support NDC Parliamentary Candidates

Friends of Ekow Spio-Garbrah, a group sympathetic to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), have donated 12,000 T-shirts to some parliamentary candidates of the party. According to the group, the gesture was to support the candidates and encourage them in their campaign activities. The NDC officially launched  its campaign  on the theme “Changing lives and Transforming Ghana,” at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central Region yesterday. Presentation In June this year, the group presented 2,400 T-shirts to 12 Parliamentary Candidates (PCs) who were all first timers at the party’s headquarters. At the residence of the Greater Accra Regional Minister last Tuesday, the group also presented T-shirts to 48 PCs of the NDC who were made up of first timers and sitting Members of Parliament.
