Anyidoho : NDC Will Deal With Martey As NPP Propagandist

1.9793402The deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has chided the immediate past moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey, for doing the bidding of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He noted the NDC will henceforth deal with Prof. Martey as an NPP propagandist. Prof Martey at a news conference on Tuesday, 30 August 2016 alleged that some politicians attempted gagging him with a US$100,000 bribe.

“Politicians have tried all means to muzzle me, to get me but they can’t, they come with bribes, fat envelopes, $100, 000…I want everybody to listen that politicians came to my house with $100, 000 and also with the promises that if you keep quiet we will give you a house at Trasaaco with swimming pool.

“We will give you Four Wheel drive [vehicle] but you know what, these people were lucky that I do not have big dogs in my house else I would have released the dogs for them to bite them,” he told journalists adding “They have tried all means to muzzle me but they couldn’t and I tell you they can’t,” he said.

Even though, Prof Martey failed to mention any particular politician; it is believed that he was referring to the NDC.

According to Mr. Anyidoho, the former Presby moderator’s bribery claims are nothing short of NPP propaganda.

He said the NDC knows the political party that Prof. Martey is doing the propaganda for. “Martey is now doing NPP politics so it makes it very easy for me to deal with him,” Anyidoho said in an interview with Accra FM.

Amidst the bribery rejection claim by Prof. Martey, a former Public Relations Officer of the Presby Church, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Akyeapong disclosed that the former lied and that he took the said money including the vehicle.

He asserted that the revered preacher received the cash and the vehicle from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) instead of the NDC.

“On July 28, 2013, around 8:15pm, he (Prof Martey) invited me to the office of one of the leading opposition parties, not the party of the government. When I got there he had received the $100,000 and a V8 he claimed to have rejected. And he gave me $50,000. I am speaking on authority that he received the money,” Mr. Akyeapong said in an interviewed Tuesday.

The Presby church has since issued a statement urging the public to disregard anything Mr. Akyeapong says.

However, Mr. Anyidoho has other ideas stating that the allegations of receiving bribery from the NPP leveled against Prof. Martey is damning and that he must clear his name.

“…It is a very strong allegation against Martey and I’m hoping that Martey will come out and clear his name quickly because if he doesn’t come out and clear his name, well, that’s it! That a leader of the Presby Church, this Presby Church that is revered, [that] has had very serious and revered moderators in the past, and today you the Presby Moderator is taking bribe from a political party to do propaganda for that party? And that’s precisely what he is doing,” he said.
