The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in the country for its harmonious and tolerance traits that have contributed to the prevailing peace.
Sheikh Sharubutu made the commendation when he joined eminent Ahmadi Muslims from other parts of the world to address the 50th annual convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (Jalsa Salana) in the United Kingdom last Saturday. More than 35,000 delegates from 91 countries met in the Hadeeqatul Mahdi, the Ahmadiyya prayer venue in the British county of Hampshire, for the three-day event which ended on Sunday.
Also in attendance was the Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih.
Togetherness
Expressing joy at participating in the Jalsa Salana, Sheikh Sharubutu said he had a close relationship with the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Ghana which began during the tenure of the late Maulvi Wahab Adam as Ameer and had continued to the current Ameer.
He said members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Ghana were important members of a committee of Muslim scholars which deliberated on issues of national concern.
He asked for prayers for all Muslims and the people of the world.
Ameer calls for peace
Relatedly, Maulvi Bin Salih asked Ghanaians to live in peace and togetherness ahead of the upcoming general election.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic at the convention, he underscored the need for patriotism to be the guiding principle for the conduct of the polls.
Alluding to the peaceful nature of Ahmadi Muslims in Ghana and around the world, the Ameer implored the larger Ghanaian public to draw lessons from that trait by “swallowing our pride to co-exist peacefully”.
“We need to make sacrifices in the larger interest of the country by accommodating our individual differences for the sake of our country,” Maulvi Bin Salih said.
