Nana Oye Lithur is an attention seeker for criticizing Bishop Obinim – Diamond Appiah
Actress and Diamond Appiah says the people criticizing Bishop Daniel Obinim are attention seekers.
In a Facebook post Wednesday evening she lashed out at Nana Oye
Lithur, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection and other
Gender Activists over Obinim’s flogging incident.
“Where were Nana Oye Lithur and those gender activists who are out
today seeking for attention?, when those montie 3 were seriously
insulting and planning to rape the only female occupying the Judiciary
structure of government who is in person of Chief Justice Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood?? None of them were out to defend the woman.” she wrote.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection led by Nana
Oye Lithur, reported Pastor Obinim of the International Godsway Church
to the Accra Regional Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit
(DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service.
The Ministry wants DOVVSU to investigate Obinim over why he flogged a
pregnant girl and her boyfriend in church with a belt for having
pre-marital sex.
According to Diamond, no gender activist raised concern when the
Judges were threatened in the Montie 3 saga and also in the case of the
Honourable Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyepong for his derogatory statements about the Electoral Commission Chairman, Charlotte Osei. She noted that disciplining a child has always been a custom in Ghanaian society.“Where were the so called activist when Hon Kennedy Agyepong was saying
all sort of derogatory n defamatory statements abt the EC Boss as well
?? But today they are here making noise over a domestic issue like a
parent disciplining a ward (which is a norm
in our society n part of our culture). Is Ghana a Serious country??? Or
we are just wasting tax payers money employing ppl who are just there
for their own selfish benefits??”
